FRANK ZAPPA LIVE EVENT- Nine crazy pieces

Frank Zappa Live Event plays and interprets the music of American composer, musician etc. Frank Zappa (1940-1993).

Zappa's music is not easily classified; it goes from old fashioned rock'n'roll via jazz, classic music, acid, fusion, beat, latin to modern "classic" pieces. And as if that wasn't enough, his lyrics could easily stand by themselves. Most of them with a bizarre sarcastic view of the corrupted politician, sexual minorities, life on the road etc. But always with a humourous attitude - if you're not offended!

Zappa’s music definitely belongs to our cultural heritage. But unlike many of our other mutual musical heroes from the ‘60s and ‘70s, his music is fairly unknown to most listeners today. It has not been worn out like the others, probably because it was to difficult for most cover bands to pick up. (Except for maybe the tune Bobby Brown)… But this group has a huge amount of Zappa-tunes on their repertoire, ranging from those bluesy tunes to the typical Zappa-ish avantgardistic stuff.

Frank Zappa Live Event was formed in 1996 by three old friends, Søren Nørup, Thomas Ulstrup and Lars Studs. The intention has always been to interpret the music and connect the different pieces in new, humourous, and technically difficult ways, but always true to Frank Zappa’s universe. On stage, it is also important for the nine musicians to give to the audience not only a musical, but also a visual experience. And what happens around in the world, and on the road, always provides the group with a constant source of amusing material for happenings on stage.

A high level of musicianship is necessary, in order to give full justice to Zappa’s compositions. All the guys in this band are accomplished soloists, and the often complex arrangement are in place, but still leaving space for crazy impulses, anarchism, improvisation that is necessary to evoke the spirit of Zappa’s music.

Frank Zappa Live Event has played all over Denmark and both the gigs and the crowds are getting bigger all the time, to a point where they could be labelled a “cult band” in Denmark.
